Toowoon Bay Caravan Park- The Entrance - Central Coast NSW |
![]() |
| Toowoon Bay still has that lovely charm of holidays at The Entrance in the 60's. Time has almost passed it by and remains a delightful little hideaway. Yes some of the waterfront weekenders have been replaced but back from the water it remains very much the same as childhood holidays. This review is not really about a normal caravan park as this one is an "annual" type park - you put your van onsite and visit whenever. However it has three very nice ensuite cabins and this is where we stayed as we were in the area for a wedding and didn't have a van as it had to be a quick weekend trip from Brisbane. |

| The park is buried in the back blocks and you do have to do a bit of searching to find it - thank you to the local council for erecting all those wonderful caravan park signs! You get good vibes even out in the street as the park presents very well and as soon as you meet the wonderful owners you are hooked! The cabins are all Millard's - nothing special, just nice and roomy and spotlessly clean. What more do you need? There is a Ducks and Drakes fully tiled amenities block with lovely old doors - the type you used to find on outside toilets. Anyway the block is absolutely immaculate. We loved the old baths very cleverly converted into outside seats. There would have to be a market for this! Similarly the letterbox made out of an old 9kg gas bottle - fantastic! |

| TV reception is only marginal in this area, the water tastes good and you get full strength on Telstra CDMA and GSM. Shopping wise you have everything within level walking distance and being NSW just about all are open on Sundays. Just around the corner is a terrific fish shop - finalists in the 2001 competition. |

| This is walkers paradise! Toowoon Bay is in between Blue Bay and Blue Lagoon. A fantastic walk is to head down to the beach and head north. The beaches here are all really nice yellow sand with lots of shells for fossickers like us. Beaches are mostly patrolled and the water is very inviting and sparklingly clean. We loved the salt water ocean pool - very popular early in the morning with the older locals too! On the boardwalk there are dozens of wonderful photos taken of the area over 50 years ago. Of most interest is the one showing the COMPLETE Entrance headland used as a marvellous open camping area. If you are energetic you can actually follow the water all the way round to the Entrance proper. This is where the Pelicans are fed every day at 3:30PM - very famous spot. Sadly our tight timetable didn't allow us time to get a picture but we did sneak in breakfast at a wonderful little bakery run by Narissa. Keep walking and you will eventually get to a huge park - Picnic Point. Follow the edge of the lake south until you reach Pacific Avenue and follow Toowoon Bay Road back to the park. Wonderful walk of about 7 kms. |
