| The second smallest State yet
there is just so much information on the Internet the mind boggles. We
came across this site whilst trying to work out our Christmas break!
Camp Sites
in Victoria is one of the most functional easy to navigate
sites on the web, and we take our collective hats off to the author - it's
just brilliant and should be given some sort of award by the tourist
boffins, as it is a private site on which quite obviously hours of effort have been
lovingly lavished. On caravan parks for instance you have
the option of finding a park by distance, by town, by direction, by
alphabetical list - a pure delight to use and it puts the RAA publications
to shame, it is just so good. The same trick is used for State Parks and
National Parks. We particularly liked the map references - superb. We
haven't reproduced one here as they are very large requiring scrolling, but
we have one of the town maps below to give you a bit of an idea of the
detail provided. The links in the National/State Parks
table reproduced below are active and any will take you straight to the site. Most of the
pages use a similar very easy to use layout. Where known,
pet information is also provided. There are lots of recipes, good
checklists, and lots of camping tips such as ways of saving on ice and
reducing weight etc. Great for newbies to caravanning and yes even the old
hands can pick up good tips on this site. Our only wish is he starts one
for Queensland SAP! You can contact the
webmaster at viccamp@ozemail.com.au.
He is also currently working on a more elaborate site. Below are
some extracts from the site - all the links are active so one could spend
hours in there! Please book mark
Camp Sites
in Victoria as you will definitely find a use for it in the
future. Absolutely recommended. NOTE: This website has recently changed servers. If you have troubles we suggest you check your bookmarks and DELETE http://members.ozemail.com.au/~viccamp/index.html as it is no longer active and there is no automatic redirection. All the campsite links below are working and take you to a long page within the Camps Victoria site. The following is a small extract from the site. |
| The aim of this site is to provide contact points for
information relating to camping sites available in the state of Victoria,
Australia. Listed are the National Parks, State Parks, State Forests,
Coastal Parks, Water Storage Areas and Caravan Parks providing facilities
for campers.
Notes WATER/FIREWOOD -- For most parks, forests and reserves it is necessary to take your own drinking water and firewood (if needed), but Gas/Fuel stoves are preferred. Not all parks allow pets. It is recommended that you contact the park before departure for regulations and current conditions. PETS in caravan parks -- some caravan parks have a notation as to the situation relating to pets. In other cases, pets are not allowed, allowed only at certain times of the year or unknown at this time. It is advisable to confirm the situation beforehand.
