Low Cost Power Inverter and Battery Charger |
![]() |
| This type of combination is fairly rare in Australia and this unit will possibly be a best seller, as at present the A'van does not come with an inverter as standard. The "smart" battery charging circuitry means that the charge tapers off as the battery approaches the fully charged state. This greatly increases battery life. It is not full sine wave so whilst it will work with computers it would not be a good choice for critical applications. Having 300 watts though it would easily drive any TV and video, all stab mixers, sewing machines, just about all fans, but not a hair dryer. To give a comparison, a 150 watt sine wave BARE costs $300. It also has a built in regulator for your Solar panel. At present this is a separate device in the A'van. Arlec is the same very well respected and reliable brand as the converter used in all A'van campers. We have heard of failures in the USA using other brands, but zero reports in Australia. For those wondering what an "inverter" is - it turns 12 volt direct current (DC) from your battery into 240 volt alternating current exactly the same as your house. More info from any Dick Smith Electronics store. The Internet site is in frames so we can't give you a direct link/bookmark. Just go to the main page and in the search function on the top left type power inverter. Oddly, tying the exact name of the product yields a zero response! |
