The Ultimate Air-Conditioner WOW!! |
![]() |
| If you have ever visited Cairns or Darwin etc. you have already found out first hand how wonderful it is to be able to sleep comfortably at night if you have an air-conditioner. In your A-frame camper there isn't a lot of room for such a luxury. Most AC's fitted are installed right at the front and there is at least a dozen photos in Show & Tell illustrating this. The A'van in basic form is just about in perfect balance and industry leaders in this respect. Putting an AC at the front increases the ball weight considerably and totally wrecks it! Because of this extra ball weight, if you have a normal sedan it is not an option. In the USA the system shown is common place. It solves all the problems in one blow and one can only wonder why they aren't offered in Australia. It is all plus, plus, plus with this model, as it doesn't use up any of the space from the front wardrobe as happens in the Australian versions. The unit is mounted in the dead space behind the draws in the cupboard unit of the A'van. OK it protrudes out the side a wee bit, but I feel this is a good idea as it must aid cooling and to me at least this doesn't look ugly. As I have said before, this is the way Electrolux should be going with their fridges to aid cooling and to increase space without gaining height. Being mounted directly over the kerbside wheel means that the ball weight remains the SAME and the unit in perfect balance. All you have to allow for is the slight extra weight of around 30 kg. Now I don't know about you but I would willingly leave at home 30 kg of junk to be able to get a good nights sleep in the tropics! Special thanks to Bob Hoffman and Gerry Pearson in the States for all this valuable information. I hope we can follow through on it. And yes it is reverse cycle so it also heats. Having one of these would INSTANTLY end the condensation problems plaguing A-frame campers and MUST extend their life. |
