FREE Camping near Brisbane |
| In an effort to promote their home patch Laidley Shire Council are allowing free camping at two of their camping and caravan parks. Sounds tooooo good to be true as both parks are less than an hour from Brisbane in a quite scenic area. So how does it work, and is there fine print? You get the FIRST two nights free at the Lake Dyer Camping and Caravan Park which is located one kilometer west of town. This is a normal park with full facilities - even annex pads if you like that sort of thing. If you choose to stay on it's $18.00 a night for a powered site. Maximum stay is seven nights. The other park is 15 kms south of Laidley at Centenary Park. Here it's even better - you get SEVEN nights free! This is a basic park with composting toilets, showers, water and BBQ's etc. Staying here you can easily pop into Brisbane for day trips of take a peek at the Pioneer Village (pictured below). Our absolute favourite place in the immediate area is Wivenhoe Dam. Lots of wonderful picnic spots and if you go there be sure not to miss the FANTASTIC camping area at Captain Logan's Camp just north of the spillway. We have had lots of requests for more free camping ideas and soon we will have a story on a wonderful free camping area near Petrie just a little bit north of Brisbane - actually in the suburbs. Some "silver haired gypsies" put us onto this one! You get to Laidley using the Warrego Highway and Laidley is 8 kms south of Plainland. As this offer could be withdrawn at any time (some other parks are a tad upset!) we suggest you ring (07) 5466 1166 a few days before arriving. |
