Computers on the Move

There are many of us travelling around with our laptop computers in tow. As one gets older the eye strain associated with looking at a portable screen can become a problem. Just finding the mouse pointer leads to lots of frustration! Enter the new breed of LCD monitors. Now these have been around for two years or so, but the cost was over $5,000.00 putting them way out of reach for most of us. Over the last three months we have seen new players enter the field and initially the pricing came in around $1000.00. They have since dropped to $795.00. So that's price out of the way! Why do you need one? Well quite frankly we now couldn't live without one as the quality is just so superb. There are absolutely zero negatives. There is absolutely no flicker whatsoever and the colour is just so rich. Looking at photographs for instance, is a pure delight. You just don't get eyestrain anymore. We chose the Acer FP563 as it also has good quality built in speakers. Most laptops in the $3 to $4K range have lousy speakers. Why do you want good speakers you might well ask? Well to listen to CD's whilst you tinker away of course! The Acer is very light, VERY thin and it plugs straight into your laptop without having to mess with special cards or drivers and the strength of the colour is better than real life. Remember if you buy a used unit this info on not needing drivers/cards will probably not be the case, so best be careful. Those using solar - good news as it only draws 1 amp - amazing stuff! You can become a power user and have both screens on at once. This is a fantastic way of working. Doing websites we have all our pictures on one screen, write a story on the other page and just drag in the correct photos. You can even have two different programs running at once. Setting this up can be tricky until someone shows you the ropes, but basically to get a program to run on the other screen just minimise it and drag to the other side and then resize it. Next load your second program and it will come up normally. You can get more info on the Acer USA site - very easy to navigate site too! Absolutely recommended if you like phenomenal image quality!
