Low Tech Divorce Eliminator

Lining up the tow vehicle tow ball and the van coupling is not always without marital drama. If however your tow vehicle has a low loading height boot (or is a station wagon or 4WD), and one or more of the rear seat backs can be lowered, there is a simple solution as shown in the photographs. A 450mm long light coloured stick is temporarily attached to the tow ball cover with two blobs of Blue-Tack. The stick should be vertical and on the side of the tow ball cover nearest to the tow vehicle. Using the jockey wheel, wind up the front of the van so the coupling is higher than the tow ball cover, and can be seen from the driving position through the open rear of the tow vehicle. Reverse the tow vehicle to the point where the coupling just touches the stick. Remove the stick and tow ball cover, lower the van coupling directly onto the tow ball and live happily ever after!
