Gas Bottle Cover

It seems everybody has different ideas regarding the appearance of the gas bottles.  Some are perfectly happy with them as they leave the factory, some think they look utilitarian in the otherwise sleek styling, and some just want to cover them up to protect them from road filth when towing. In our travels, we have come across many different solutions, and not to be outdone, the photograph shows what we have come up with.  The vinyl cover (colour matched to the "quilted" stone protector on the van) is 510mm wide, 280mm front to back, 490mm top to bottom.  The bottom is open to allow it to be placed over the bottles.  There are two eyelets along the bottom front edge and two along the bottom rear edge.  Two elastic ropes through the eyelets pass under the metal rails under the bottles and stop the cover from coming off when travelling.  The vinyl cover on its own does not hold its shape, so it was necessary to make up a cardboard box liner which fits snugly inside the cover before putting it over the bottles.  It is advisable to seal the stitched cover seams to avoid water leaks when travelling in wet weather.
