As our A'van is not blessed with a draining board, we use a simple plastic tray (400mm x 250mm x 30mm high) on the cook-top cover for this purpose.  It avoids laying a tea towel over the cover (which soon gets saturated) and keeps the drained water under control!  When not in use the tray is stored vertically inside one of the cupboards
