Stowing the Jockey Wheel |
![]() |
| A'vans haven't been using the new swivel type jockey wheels for all that long. For this reason there isn't much advice on the subject given in the factory manuals. Yes there is a right and wrong way folks! The photo on the right shows you just what happens when you cross over a gutter with it stored the wrong way round! Not too disastrous as you can bend it back - don't do this repeatedly though, or the metal will fatigue and fail - fall off that is! Now if this happens you can buy a complete inside assembly from places such as Carac, Caravan Accessories or Camec etc or your dealer. |

| The correct way to store the swivel jockey wheel is to have the wheel ALWAYS at the front as shown in the photo on the left. In the April 2001 A-Show & Tell, Peter & Angela Watkins in their Check List suggest that you tie the handle back to the gas bottle etc. We use one of those rubber octopus straps. Very easy! For those with the older removable model the newer type are so much better that it is worthwhile to change over to the swivel type. We have seen them as cheap as $58 from Carac, Caravan Accessories or Camec etc. |
