The A'van Water Works |
![]() |
| There are actually three ways of getting water to your sink. Simply moving the handle up and down will deliver water to the sink provided there is water in the tank. To deliver water using the built in electric pump simply push the handle right up. If you connect a hose to the water inlet just next to the filler holding the lever down gives you mains water. Try not to let debris get into your tank or the pump may stop working. The pump combination is one of the best on the market and usually gives years of trouble free service. If it does eventually fail Camec sell an excellent overhaul kit or just see your dealer. |

The A'van has an excellent water storage system. Firstly it's not underneath the van, so it is not prone to damage from rocks and in particular, running over or hitting things. Over the years we have replaced three external water tanks - at around $100 a pop! This can really wreck your budget if you are doing The Big One on limited funds. Secondly, it is made from better materials as it doesn't have to be Ultra Violet light stabilised as it is always covered. This means generally it doesn't get that dreadful plastic taste and algae tends not to form. It is a very good system! You can make it better by installing another much smaller tank dedicated to drinking water only. Connect this up to the sink with a small hand pump and a filter if you can afford it. Most motorhoming "old hands" for instance use this system as the quality of water in the outback is often doubtful and this way you know your drinking water is OK. Another good move is to carry drinking water in a separate container. |
