Low Cost Vent Fans

This is a rather clever way of getting a poor mans Fantastic Fan - found on a USA site - can't remember where! Sorry! The USA fans mentioned are computer cooling fans and cost about $10.00 each in Australia. You can link this project in with boosting the cooling of your Electrolux fridge by using a similar fan and a 5/10 watt extra solar panel. We have tried this on another RV and it works well. Use the same solar to drive all your fans. Obviously it only works in daylight so not much cop on a very hot night. You can do this all very cheaply as low wattage solar panels don't need a regulator saving a bit of money.

Budget Fantastic Vent

"The "Fantastic Fan" is pretty nice, but is far more expensive than an air conditioner. I made a fan set-up that does about as good, and cost me about $4. The fans in computer power supplies are about 1/4 the size of an RV vent. Fasten 4 of them together with a bracket, connect the power leads in parallel, add a switch and you have a vent fan. I made a similar set-up for my p/u truck, used 2 of them mounted in the rear sliding window, and it keeps it cool on a hot summer day".
