Towing Plug Converter Warning

We were helping a fellow A'vanner to sort out some minor electrical towing problems. He had three trailers, two of which had different electrical connector plugs. We showed him how to convert over to one type - the flat type Brylite. Rather than waste money buying yet another plug we decided to cannibalise one of the existing "converters" and use the Brylite plug. When doing this we observed that the wiring size inside these adaptors is only 3mm! Horror of horrors, as pin 5 is your brakes. We strongly suggest to any A'vanner using a "Made in China" type 7 pin Utilux to 7 pin Brylite converter to seriously think about eliminating it and fitting a single plug, as we feel it could be a safety hazard. Commonsense also suggests that the LESS connections you have the more reliable the set up.
