The Law and Towing Mirrors

Are you aware that your tow mirrors; the outside extremities, cannot be more than 6 inches wider than your van, as the A'van is 6 foot 6 inches wide then mirror tip  to mirror tip no more than 7 foot 6 inches, as cars and 4WDsare different widths, everyone would have a different amount sticking out from their own mirrors, now I would  think that with a Nissan Patrol its own mirrors would go close to being 7 foot 6 inches wide, and so, with towing an A'van they would not need extra mirrors, it would need to be measured first, if ok, they would probably need them if towing a wider van.
But [I know you should not start a sentence with a preposition] but, a policeman can and will book you, if you cannot see down both sides of your van, also if your mirrors protrude too far, and, if you  had a patrol and it  was wide enough for an A'van not to require extra mirrors, he would still probably book you for not having mirrors, as they say if you tow you must have extra mirrors, then you would have to go to court and prove your vehicle did not require them.
