A'liner Set Up Advice from the USA

I am an owner of a 1994 A'liner and thought I would pass along some information on set up. Last summer we were in the process of setting up our A'liner at a local state campground when I was visited by a park ranger. He asked me if I had planned on removing the tongue jack wheel, I told him no. I asked him why it mattered and he told me that they had several occasions when small trailers had been spun around in wind storms. They have hard paved pads to set up on and that added to the problem. I made a trip to the A'liner factory and had a second set of stabilizers added to the front of the unit. Since then I find it easier to level the unit and it seems more solid when walking inside or going in and out. Here is a tip on levelling your camper: Purchase a deck post level (it is two sided and fits around a 2 x 2 post with a rubber band) which allows you to plumb from two sides at the same time. Place the level on the tongue jack assembly just below the crank. When attached it will allow you to level L to R and F to B. I use one of these levels to plumb flag poles when doing installations. We do sell them if you can't find one locally.

Safe camping,

Drage Flick

Note: We thought it would be a good idea to include this advice as most Australian Sportliners only come with the rear stabilisers. We always use a plastic chock under the jockey wheel as well. The tongue jack mentioned above is what we call our jockey wheel.
