Roof Damage Caused by Long Vent Screws

We have come across quite a few instances of this problem. This is what happens. The little handle on the Jensen 14" overhead vents breaks and the screw gets lost. The easiest way to fix it is to pop up to the nearest caravan accessory place for a "spare". Yes most carry them but the A'van ones need a special head screw. The photo above shows the damage done to your roof externally when the roof is down. It rubs as you go along and eventually will wear a hole right through and of course will stark to leak. The solution/prevention is to ONLY buy this spare part from your A'van dealer as they only supply the handle with the correct screw. The actual vents by the way are not stocked by any supplier other than A'van (steel frame with zero holes). The only other supplier we have found for just the smoked cover is Winnigago.
