A'van Floor Advice from the USA |
|
We found the following on a discussion group for RV's in the States. "I saw an A'liner with a rotted out floor twice. I was in the market to buy an A'liner at the time and didn't buy it. They were at dealerships in Philadelphia, and Southern, Ohio. The dealership in Philadelphia admitted there was a problem before I noticed it and bought it, actually. Ohio wasn't as honest. After researching this problem, I learned it is really important to look everywhere when buying one because it makes the RV worth very little and is almost impossible to totally correct. One of the main ways this happens is from the moisture on the underside of the trailer rotting out the only composite wood. The 2000 A' liners and on, are now undercoated, and you can contact Scott at the Factory and coat it yourself for about $20 from high quality items you find at the auto parts store." Bit of a shock this story! We went straight out and checked ours! Zero problems thank goodness, but we had a major scare when the town water connection came adrift in the van and filled the converter compartment last year. Since then we NEVER connect to town supplies as it's just not worth the risk. Jeff kindly checked it all out and gave us a clean bill of health. He also mentioned he was considering fitting a pressure reducing valve to allow for the higher than normal pressures found in some country towns. In our case it was Hervey Bay near Fraser Island Queensland. |
