Are We Getting Too Security Conscious?

On the USA A-Frame board the big topic for February has been security. One of the messages really made us sit back and think as we may have fallen into the over security conscious trap ourselves! Seeing the plight of the NSW bushfire victims showed us that we probably place too much importance on the material things of life. Worth pondering perhaps? Vans and more so motorhomes do get stolen in Australia mainly for use as comfortable living quarters on drug farms so we are told.

I am amazed at the things people worry about. Has any one reading this had a camper stolen? Any one you know? Any one you've ever heard of? I've only been
camping for 20 years and only know dozen or so fellow campers. Maybe it's Michigan - this just doesn't seem to be an issue. And in any case, don't you have
insurance?

But, if you want to defend this hypothetical scenario and before you spend a lot of money for something more than a $10 hitch lock, please answer this. I'm going
to back a tow truck, the kind that completely takes the vehicle off the ground, up to your A'liner, hook the winch to the axle and drag the thing onto my truck
and drive away. Estimated time for two guys, about 15 minutes. I don't care if I blow the tires and damage the wheels or even bend the axle. That's about $1000
worth of damage max and I've selling your $10,000 A'liner for $3000 so my net is still good. How do you stop me?

Hopefully, in the summer people are enjoying their rigs instead of fretting about them! :)

Mark,
It's not just the money for the Aliner, it's the grief to get all the items back, your physical health back, and the items that mean something to you that are not worth enough dollars or are sentimental and can never be replaced. Yes, it's a small percentage of people, but why put yourself at this risk? When you jump all over someone else, perhaps you don't understand their situation. You should praise God that this has never happened to you. God IS Good!
Red.
