To calculate the watts used the formulae is; watts = volts x amps

i.e.. for an appliance that uses 0.83 amps from a 12 volt system the calculation of watts used is;

Number of watts used = 12 x 0.83

= 9.96 watts

To calculate the amps used the formulae is; amps = watts / volts

i.e.. for an appliance that uses 10 watts from a 12 volt system, the calculation of amps used is;

Number of amps used = 10 / 12

= 0.833 amps
