A Most Needed Break |
| Guess what!!!!! Over a cup of 'Herbal Tea' I heard about The Around Oz Site. The hours had to fly. I needed to explore this site further. After talking with some friends one day I decided to take my two sons Justin and Scott camping. We decided on Elanda Point on the banks of Lake Cootharaba near Noosa. It was a hassle free two hour drive from Brisbane. |

We found some interesting walks to tempt us as we enjoy walking in the bush and the boys always like to explore where ever possible. We decided on the walk to Mill Point just a short 1.5km walk and then the Kinaba Visitor Centre which was slightly longer at 7kms. We thought these were return walks but as we found out 7kms was just one way. Once we arrived at the Centre Scott wanted to borrow the rangers boat to get back to camp but it wasn’t to be. Never mind it certainly tired the boys out that day. There were plenty of canoeists at the Centre coming back from The Everglades which is another thing we must do one day. The mozzies were just so hungry, no matter what insect repellent we had on it still wasn’t enough to deter them from biting. I couldn’t believe how quickly the park had filled up with happy campers while we were away exploring this day. I can see why so many families come here because the Lake itself is so safe for swimming and canoeing. Justin and Scott made some new friends and played soccer during the day and spotlight at night. I was able to just relax and do nothing or catch up on some reading. Both boys hired a canoe the second day we were there and had a fun time exploring different areas of the Lake. |

| At last. WOW!!! On my screen this world of
ours is such a fascinating place when it's presented in such an
appetizing manner by Bob & Chrissy Eustace. (my computer
teacher by the way).
I was a little nervous at first towing our camper van but with the help of
the boys all went very smoothly. Once we arrived at Elanda Point and paid
our camp fees we then proceeded to find the best spot possible. We chose
down near the water with some shade and as we arrived at 2p.m. Friday
afternoon we had the pick of the spots. What I liked best was the drive-in
drive-out no hassles of reversing into a camp site. The park was so peaceful for this time of day so we quickly set up camp as the boys were eager to check out everything. The kangaroos were not the least bit worried about us being there and it was just wonderful to see them in the wild like this. We found the shower and toilet facilities clean and plenty of them scattered around the park. I did find that having an early shower was best because the rush came around 5.00p.m. with mums and smaller children being looked after which meant a wait for the showers. The kids thought the big screen t.v. was a good idea. But who needs t.v. in such a peaceful place!!! The shop was stocked with little treats for the kids to enjoy and even the bigger kids were seen buying lollies and chips for there afternoon or evening snack. |

Surprise!! Surprise!! Camp fees $7.00 per night per person. Best to arrive early because first in best dressed. Native animals roaming freely. This is country experience at it's best. Facilities here include water sports, fishing and bush walking. Even a Big Screen TV. if you have to catch the football etc (State of Origin) was on. You missed this one Bob & Chrissy. Store nearby with home cooked food which was a good supplement from camp cooking. |

| Who said there isn't a home away from home. It doesn't get much better than this or does it Bob!! Elanda Point is an idyllic spot for people from all walks of life. |

| A photographer's paradise. Sunset and sunrise is just gorgeous if you remember to set the alarm clock so one can get up in time! Thanks for showing us this place. I would recommend this park to anyone who wants to get away for a short break or longer. |
